TheGovernment and Civic Relationsgroup has a fantastic opportunity to add an experiencedProgram Managerto our team! We are charged with building confidence and trust in the SF Fed by elevating the work of the Bank to create opportunities for conversation and education. We inform policymakers and engage partners, including federal, state, local, and tribal government, and civic leaders. We help manage the reputation of the Bank, providing counsel to internal leaders through a lens of current events, news and emerging issues, to make business decisions, pinpoint reputational risk, and surface opportunities. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with the Government and Civic Relations team, including the Vice President, and Program Managers for state, local and federal work, to create and complete near and long-term goals, strategies, and tactics for engagement with key external partners including federal, state, and local partners.
  • Support team and organization messaging, with a focus on internal advising on landscape, strategic approach, and risk assessment; act as a thought partner for key internal team members.
  • Working collaboratively with other Program Managers, design and manage channel-appropriate communications, events, and projects to inform partners’ perspective and advance the mission of the Bank.
  • Lead various team communication vehicles, including multiple newsletters; manage calendars, build content, track readership and devise strategies to increase engagement.
  • Monitor the external environment and be an internal advisor and external champion for the Bank, briefing key leaders on issues and proposals that could impact the FRBSF/FRS’s ability to carry out its public service mission.
  • Represent the Bank externally and support executives in partner engagement activities.
  • Lead and evaluate requests from international and federal government organizations for Bank employees to provide written or verbal testimony and/or briefings.
  • Lead the tracking and reporting of principal- and staff-level engagements to ensure diverse and geographically representative outreach across the District.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, and evaluation of interns assigned to the department.
  • Engage with key partners across the Public Engagement team, including Regional Executives and Community Development, as well as other leaders and teams across the bank.
  • Participate in the FRS Government Relations Working Group and other committees and cross-functional teams as needed.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, Communications or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires seven or more years of related experience in government relations and/or public affairs, preferably with experience working for or with members of Congress, a government agency, other elected office.
  • Ability to synthesize multiple streams of information and interpret complex reputational issues.
  • Superior attention to detail and project management skills; some experience managing events or convenings preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
  • Superior judgement, able to work in a non-partisan manner, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%.
