What You’ll Do
As a Controls Engineer, you will support the development, standardization, and implementation of controls technologies across our custom manufacturing environment. In this role, you will:
- Recommend, develop, and implement new controls technologies for our ultrasonic systems and production processes
- Improve and standardize existing controls platforms, including PLC programming, HMI design, data collection, equipment monitoring, and documentation
- Create and deliver training for PLCs, HMIs, and process equipment to Controls, Maintenance, and Production teams
- Support internal and customer project launches—from new part introductions to new equipment commissioning
- Collaborate with vendors on system integration, upgrades, new equipment, and hardware/ software modifications
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices in controls engineering
- Provide daily production floor support for troubleshooting, optimization, and system improvements
- Analyze collected data to drive measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and uptime
- Help maintain a safe, well-organized working environment by following machine-build and maintenance safety practices

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley strongly preferred)
- Basic knowledge of industrial safety systems including guarding, light curtains, area scanners, and safety relays
- Proficiency with common engineering or controls software (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, SolidWorks Electrical preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and equipment programs
- Experience creating and integrating custom control systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to apply scientific and logical thinking to complex issues
- Proficiency in common computer applications (Word, Excel, email, manufacturing or database software)
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of related controls engineering experience
- Experience with controls in a custom manufacturing environment
- Ability to manage multiple capital or engineering projects simultaneously
- Experience collaborating and communicating effectively across teams with different backgrounds, skill sets, and levels of technical knowledge
Work Environment
This role involves on-the-floor engineering support in a manufacturing environment. You may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, fumes, or airborne particles. Noise levels are generally moderate. Reasonable accommodations are available.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands
- Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, or crawling
- Ability to lift 10 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
